Church Activities

Fellowship activities throughout the year make it easy to get to know one another and deepen friendships. Here are a few favorites:
Coffee Hours A time for conversation and refreshment, Coffee Hours are held on most Sundays, September—June, immediately after worship and church school in the fellowship hall. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries on the first Sunday of each month.
Annual Spaghetti Dinner An Olivet tradition for over 75 years, the spaghetti and meatballs and sauce (or “gravy” as the Italians call it) are prepared by volunteers using a recipe handed down from our “church mothers”. Usually held in May. Date will be posted on our calendar.
Scholarship Luncheon The recipients of the upcoming year’s scholarships are announced at the annual Scholarship Luncheon, which is also a fundraiser to benefit the Olivet Scholarship program. Usually held in June. Date will also be posted on our calendar.
Children’s Christmas Pageant The shepherds, angels and kings who witnessed the first Christmas are portrayed by the children of the church in an annual Christmas pageant that brings us back to the basics of our faith during the busy holiday season. Usually held during worship in mid-December.
Blessing of the Animals On a Saturday close to the day of St. Francis in October, church members and friends come to church with their four-legged family members. Olivet’s very own veterinarian, Dr. Lynn Mastrangelo, leads an informal Blessing of the Animals to a joyful chorus of yips, barks and meows.
Church Picnic When summer draws to a close, we gather for a Welcome Back picnic on a Saturday in September. Everyone brings a dish to share, and Olivet’s best grillers flip burgers and dogs to perfection. An egg toss and water balloon relays provide fun for all ages.
